Is it possible to believe and doubt at the same time? Of course it is! Mark 9:24 says, “Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” The response from this man came after Jesus said to him, Mark 9:23 “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” The mans response to help my unbelief caused Jesus to show this man that all things are possible to him who believes.
Jesus taught us that through prayer we can keep asking, seeking and knocking. Matthew 7:7-11 says “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
When we have a relationship with Jesus, we can enter boldly into His throne of grace. Because He is our high priest He can sympathize with us. In other words He knows what we are going through. Hebrews 4:15-16 says, “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Prayer for today: Lord Jesus I believe, help my unbelief!
