The Greeks are the founders of the Olympics. Paul the apostle spoke to them in a way they could relate and comprehend the message of salvation… 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

If Football had been around than, here is what it might of sounded like… Don’t you realize that in a football game everyone plays to win but only one team wins, So play to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a game that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal victory. So I play in a game with purpose in every step. I am not just running or lifting weights no I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.

Prayer for today… Lord help me to train in such away that I stay focus on the eternal prize
